Congratulations on your recent promotion to Account Manager! What are you looking forward to about your new role?
I’m excited to step into this new role and continue building on the strong partnership we have with Servus Credit Union. My focus will be on supporting their members by offering Stride’s specialized equipment leasing solutions, complementing Servus’ commercial and retail lending. Stride was brought in to enhance the overall member experience, serving as an additional resource within the Servus network. I’m looking forward to being that resource and helping members access flexible, common-sense financing options tailored to their operational needs. Hitting the road and meeting clients face-to-face is a big part of that. Seeing their businesses firsthand helps me understand how we can best support their growth, not just through numbers, but through real-world impact.
Can you tell us about your experience leading up to your promotion, both with Stride and before?
Before joining Stride, I started my career with another independent lender right out of university. I spent nearly four years in an Inside Sales Coordinator role, which gave me a full view of the deal cycle, from origination to funding. I had the opportunity to learn from eight different sales reps, each with their own style, which was incredibly valuable.
When I moved to Stride, I focused on growing the broker side of the business across Canada. At the time, the broker desk was a smaller piece of our portfolio, but in just two years, it grew to over a $150 million book. After Stride was acquired by Servus Credit Union, I began working directly with Servus referrals as well. Earlier this year, I transitioned away from brokers to focus on Servus and direct business and now I’m fully dedicated to supporting Servus Credit Union and southern Alberta businesses in this new role.
What interested you in working in the financial industry initially?
I’ve always been a people person; social, curious, and eager to help—so sales felt like a natural fit. Equipment finance especially appealed to me because it has a strong “blue collar” feel, which is right up my alley. What started as a goal to get into sales has turned into a career that I’m passionate about.
What do you like the most about working at Stride Capital? What valuable lessons have you learned throughout your time here?
What I enjoy most is the real impact we make. Financing can change the trajectory of a business—whether it’s expanding a fleet, securing working capital for a new project, or helping a company through a tough patch. It’s rewarding to know our work makes a difference.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is the importance of listening. Every business is unique, and understanding their needs before offering solutions is key. I’ve also learned that speed and accuracy are equally important. You have to be quick, but you also have to be precise. And above all, staying adaptable is essential in this business.
What is your life outside of work like?
I’m an avid golfer, and when I’m not on the course you’ll probably find me playing hockey or spending time with my wife, family, and friends. I like to keep busy and am always doing something!
