Congratulations on your recent promotion to Senior Credit Analyst! What are you looking forward to about your new role?
Thank you! I’m looking forward to the increased responsibility entrusted to me with this position. Having gained additional trust in my abilities from my superiors, I look forward to completing more complex approvals, deals, and write-ups, which, in turn, will ultimately lead to improved approval times and will allow my superiors additional time to focus on more imperative tasks.
Can you tell us about your experience leading up to your promotion, both with Stride and before and what you did to get here?
I started in the Equipment Finance Industry as a Credit Officer at CWB in May 2015. During my four years at CWB, I gained a great understanding of the core fundamentals of credit. I achieved two promotions during my time there. Having gained a fair amount of experience at CWB, I applied for an opening for a Credit Analyst position at Stride Capital Corp. where my skills paired nicely with what Stride was looking for. Having been through a tumultuous time in the industry since starting at Stride with the COVID pandemic, inflation, equipment pricing swings, and more, since my tenure, I feel I’ve gained a great amount of experience as a result of this, which has led me to where I’m at today.
What made you want to work as a Credit Analyst?
Having obtained my Bachelor of Business Management degree from the University of Lethbridge, I’ve always been interested in the corporate finance world. My roommate at the time was working at CWB and suggested I apply for the Credit Officer – Equipment Finance role as I always had a keen interest in heavy equipment. This proved to be the right move as I have been in the equipment finance industry for over eight years and continue loving my work and the industry.
What do you like the most about working at Stride Capital?
The thing I love most about Stride Capital is the staff. I love coming to work every day due to the positivity the team brings to my life and our fun work environment here at Stride. After being forced to work from home during COVID, I took for granted how much I enjoyed our team environment, and now consider our team what I love most about Stride.
What is your life outside of work like?
Life outside work has been great. I live in Calgary with my amazing wife, Trish, and our beloved dog Joey. My wife and I love to travel, and we recently travelled to Europe during our honeymoon and had an amazing time. We look forward to starting a family in the near future.
