We recently sat down with Scott Brenton, new Account Manager here at Stride Capital, to discuss his new role and what led him to it. Scott will be serving our valued clients in Ontario, and shared with us his previous work experience and how it led him to his position at Stride, what he’s looking forward to in his new role, and a snapshot of his life outside of work. Keep reading to get to know Scott!

Tell us about your previous work experience and finance education. How did it lead you to Stride?

My career began in 2004 in residential real estate sales, where I gained valuable experience managing and consulting on significant transactions for a diverse range of clients across Southern Ontario. The success I achieved early on allowed me to expand into more complex commercial transactions, assisting clients with the relocation and expansion of office and warehouse spaces.

In 2008, a former client approached me with an opportunity to build and lead an in-house Finance & Insurance Department for their high-volume heavy truck dealership. I spent nearly 15 years in that role, serving customers across the transportation, construction, and waste management sectors with their equipment financing and insurance needs.

In 2022, I accepted a unique opportunity to work with a land developer in Central Mexico, consulting foreign investors purchasing and financing real estate projects. It was during this time that I met and married my wife. Together, we decided to explore new opportunities back in Canada.

Through a mutual contact, I connected with Stride Capital’s VP – Leasing, Andrew Del Bucchia. It quickly became clear that the Account Manager role aligned perfectly with my background and interests.

What are you looking forward to about your new role at Stride?

I’m excited to partner with the hardworking individuals and entrepreneurs who are the backbone of Ontario’s economy. My goal is to provide them with the financial tools and support they need to ensure their businesses remain stable and successful, regardless of economic conditions.

Building long-standing relationships with clients is a priority for me. I want to be a reliable partner who supports their businesses through both challenging and prosperous times by offering prompt, proactive, and common-sense financing solutions.

What opportunities do you see as part of Stride and within this new role?

Stride Capital’s common-sense approach to lending stands out in the industry. It’s a refreshing take on credit underwriting—one that emphasizes listening, understanding our clients’ businesses, and truly going the extra mile.

There’s also a strong corporate culture here, backed by diligent credit, coordination, and funding teams. This support enables quick turnaround times and exceptional client service. As a frontline Account Manager, it’s incredibly reassuring to have a united and capable team behind me.

What sectors do you specialize in and what opportunities do you see on the horizon?

My experience lies in the transportation, construction, and waste management sectors—industries that often form the backbone of, or interconnect with, others, such as manufacturing and agriculture. 

Despite today’s economic uncertainties, there are still significant opportunities for business owners to restructure, invest, acquire, and grow. With the right support from Stride Capital, I believe many clients can capitalize on these opportunities and strengthen their operations.

What is your life like outside of work?

Outside of work, I stay active by playing tennis, golfing, going to the gym, and taking care of my dog. My wife and I love to travel—both throughout Canada and internationally—and we’re big fans of all kinds of sports, whether we’re watching live or from home.
