How has your role evolved over the past 5+ years, and what have your growth and Stride Capital’s growth looked like during this time?
Over the past five years, my role at Stride Capital has evolved significantly, transitioning from a junior position to a senior role. This journey has been marked by several key developments:
Overall, both my personal growth and Stride Capital’s growth have been intertwined. As I have advanced in my career, I have contributed to the company’s success by leveraging my expertise and connections to navigate the complexities of the Canadian economy.
What’s one of your favorite memories from your time with Stride so far?
Honestly, I don’t have one standout memory, but what I love most about my job is getting to visit our clients on-site. It’s awesome to see their businesses up close and learn about what they do. Every visit is different and gives me a fresh perspective on various industries. Plus, it helps build stronger connections with our clients. Those on-site experiences are definitely the highlight of my time at Stride Capital.
What’s the most valuable lesson you’ve learned during your time here?
The most valuable lesson I’ve learned during my time here is that the equipment leasing business is all about relationships. It’s crucial to build strong connections with end users, vendors, and industry partners. Expanding my network has been key, not just to help others with their business needs, but also to have a support system I can rely on when I need it. Plus, establishing connections outside the equipment finance world has opened up new opportunities and insights that have been incredibly beneficial.
What do you enjoy most about working with your team and contributing to Stride Capital’s mission?
What I enjoy most about working with my team at Stride Capital is the amazing culture we have. We’re a close-knit group, and that camaraderie really makes us the best team in equipment leasing in the country. It’s great to be part of a team where everyone supports each other and works together towards our common goals. This positive environment not only makes work enjoyable but also drives our success.
How do you stay motivated and inspired after 5+ years, and what excites you about the future with the company?
What keeps me motivated and inspired after more than 5 years at Stride (and 10+ in the equipment leasing industry) is the fact that every day is different. Each deal is unique, and every client has their own specific needs. This variety makes it exciting to get up every morning, connect with people, and learn new things about businesses in BC.
Looking ahead, I’m really excited about the growth opportunities we have now that Stride is a wholly owned subsidiary of Servus Credit Union, one of the largest credit unions in Canada. With their resources and support, the potential for what we can achieve is inspiring.
