We recently sat down with Darren Aiken, new Account Manager here at Stride Capital, to discuss his new role and what led him to it. Darren will be serving our valued clients in Atlantic Canada and shared with us his previous work experience and how it led him to his position at Stride, as well as a snapshot of his life outside of work. Keep reading to get to know him!

Tell us about your previous work experience and education and how it led you to Stride Capital.

I used to work for a large chartered banks transportation group, based out of Calgary. My family made the decision to move to Atlantic Canada in the summer of 2022, to be closer to family. I briefly worked for an equipment broker in the finance industry when I moved.  I knew both of the executives from Stride Capital and continued to keep in touch with them over the years. When one of my previous colleagues got hired by Stride in January, I started engaging in a deeper conversation with Stride and after a few chats, I knew this was the place for me to continue my career.

What are you looking forward to about your new role as Account Manager for Stride?

I am excited to get back to work with a lender in the leasing space. I have already hit the ground running and have been meeting with customers and dealers already and look forward to helping them move their businesses forward.

What opportunities do you see as part of Stride and within this new role?

Stride has a massive opportunity in Atlantic Canada, as it is an underserviced area with a product like ours. We have the ability to not only offer “A-type” financing solutions like the bank, but also B/C type financing as well. This really wasn’t being offered in Atlantic Canada, until now.

What sectors do you specialize in and what opportunities do you see on the horizon?

I specialize in the forestry, construction, manufacturing, logistics, and transportation industries. Stride Capital will also service the fishing industry, and I look forward to the opportunities that expanding into this industry has to offer.

What is your life like outside of work?

I am a husband and father of two boys. When I am not at work, I am generally at a rink somewhere in the province, cheering our boys on as they play hockey. When we’re not at a rink, our family enjoys fishing and enjoying the beautiful outdoors.
