We recently had the opportunity to sit down with Blessing Osungwu, Stride Capital’s new Credit Analyst, and talk with her about her new role with Stride Capital, what she’s looking forward to in it, and her previous work experience that led her to Stride Capital.
Tell us about your previous work experience and how it led you to Stride.
I have been in banking for 18 years, starting with internal control and audit and then moving into credit underwriting. Credit underwriting fuels my passion for contributing to growth and has brought me much fulfillment. Watching businesses grow with funds availed them, knowing that my contribution may have made an impact, gives me a deep sense of satisfaction. Stride Capital presents an opportunity to further this passion and their approach and solutions to business needs align with my goals.
What are you looking forward to about your new role as Credit Analyst for Stride?
I am looking forward to working with the excellent team on ground, immersing myself in the collaborative work culture, and contributing my knowledge and experience to help the team meet and exceed set targets.
What interested you in working in the finance industry and as a Credit Analyst originally?
My foray into financial services was led by curiosity about how money works and the desire to be a banker was inspired by my admiration for older family members who were. Upon entering banking, I realized that credit was one of the major engine rooms in the bank and I was fascinated by it. After gathering relevant experience across different departments through internal control/audit, I made the move to credit underwriting which was where I had always wanted to work.
What opportunities do you see as part of Stride and within this new role?
I see opportunity to expand my knowledge and further hone my analysis skills. I see a pathway for career growth, and I look forward to it.
What is your life like outside of work?
I work with teens/youths teaching life skills and character building on a volunteer basis. This gives me great pleasure and fulfilment especially when I am able to impact the under-privileged or troubled ones. I also enjoy watching movies and spending time with family and friends.
