Tell us about your previous work experience with Stride and elsewhere, your financial education, and how they led you to Stride Capital.
I am currently working towards an International Business degree and as a co-operative student at Mount Royal University (MRU). I landed my first internship with Stride back in September 2022, during which I was able to gain extensive knowledge about the finance leasing industry and the process of assisting our Account Managers across different regions of Canada. Prior to my time with Stride, I gained experience in the hospitality and retail industries which provided me with valuable customer service tools to support the team. My initial 8-month internship with Stride ended in May 2023, and I was back to school full-time, however in May 2024, I found my way back and continued my role as a Sales Assistant/Leasing Coordinator.
What are you looking forward to about returning to your role as Sales Assistant for Stride?
The first thing I am excited for and looking forward to is seeing and working alongside the amazing team—I missed them so much. Additionally, I am looking forward to picking up where I left off and continuing to learn about the finance & leasing industry in my role at Stride.
What opportunities do you see as part of Stride and within this role?
I am someone who loves to support my team and help with problem solving. This role provides the perfect opportunity for me to expand my learning and analytical problem-solving skills, and continue helping my team in any way possible. The most important opportunity, by far, is learning and working alongside some of the best individuals in the industry.
Can you tell us a bit about your experience working in a team environment, managing client relationships, and doing financial analysis? How does this experience help you excel in your role?
All my experience in the retail and hospitality industries has consisted of working in a team environment and tailoring my services to clients, creating and maintaining strong relationships with them. These experiences have helped me attain communication, teamwork, and customer service skills that I am able to use at Stride to support my team and be effective within my role. Additionally, I am minoring in finance and economics as a part of my International Business degree, and regularly apply what I’ve learned in different scenarios within my role at Stride.
What is your life like outside of work?
Outside of work, I enjoy travelling; I recently went to Europe for the summer and loved it there. Aside from travelling, I am still in school and only have 1 more semester left before I graduate. But when I’m not buried in studying, I love to spend my free time with family and friends.
