We had the opportunity to sit down with Michelle and ask her a few questions about her previous education and work experience, what she’s excited about as she steps into her new full-time role, and what her life looks like outside of work. Tell us about your previous work experience and finance education and how it led you to Stride.
In my early career, I worked in administration in the oil and gas industry, which taught me the importance of communication, teamwork, organization skills, and the ability to work cohesively with multiple departments.
These organizational skills and my ability to create rapport with vendors led me to Accounts Payable in the road construction industry.
What are you looking forward to about transitioning to a full-time Accountant role at Stride?
I’ve been at Stride as a contract worker for a year now, and getting to know everyone has been a great pleasure. Stride genuinely cares about your well-being and helps ensure a healthy work-life balance for each one of us.
What opportunities do you see as part of Stride and within this new role?
I look forward to the fascinating opportunity to see how the financing process works from start to finish, especially since we have all of the departments here in one office.
What interested you in working in the finance industry and as an Accountant originally?
I like that accounting is the same but different every day. It keeps things interesting for me, and there are always new things to learn and expand on.
What is your life like outside of work?
The majority of my time is spent in the gym or with my friends. Playing golf and paddleboarding in the summer and snowshoeing in the winter. You can also find me at the Saddledome cheering on the Calgary Roughnecks.
